Healthy Skin Needs Daily Maintenance

A good daily facial regimen involves keeping the skin cleansed and hydrated (twice a day).  At a bare minimum, it includes cleanser, toner, and moisturizer every day.  Scrubs and masques can be used a few times each week.  I will discuss each product in the order of application.

Cleanser:  Cleanse away oils and the impurities of the day.  Nothing will impact the quality of your skin more than simply maintaining its cleanliness.  Because skin repairs itself overnight, it must be cleaned and treated with essential vitamins and moisturizers before you go to bed.  That’s why it is important to remove all traces of pore-clogging dirt, oil, and makeup both morning and night.  No matter how tired you are, you should NEVER fall asleep with your makeup on!

Scrub:  Gently exfoliate dead surface cells to reveal healthier and smoother skin.  BeautiControl’s Exfoliating Polish (16283) is gentle enough to use every day.  I will say more about chemical and physical exfoliation in an upcoming post.

Masque:  Choice of masque will vary depending on your need (see chart below).  I personally love the luxurious self-warming Green Tea Masque (3587),which is phenomenal for blackheads.  First, I spritz on some Herbal Hydrating Mist (15198), which replenishes moisture.  Once my face is a bit damp, I massage the Green Tea Masque onto my face for a few minutes.  It puts you at ease with its soothing aromatherapeutic properties.

Toner:  Refine your skin’s pores, remove left-over makeup hidden deep in the pores, and restore your skin’s moisture barrier.

Moisturizer:  Moisturizer always goes on last.  TIP: The deeper a product goes, it goes on first.  You’re never too young to start taking care of your skin!  It’s much easier to prevent damage than repair damage.  At 18 years old, we stop producing moisture around the eyes.  Do we really need a different moisturizer for the delicate skin around our eyes?  Stay tuned to find out!
